O.K. the paradox with blogging/journaling for me is that the times when you have the most goings on to report on are the times when you have the least amount of time to do so. This month is all but gone and in a whirlwind of fun days and happy memories I might add. We began November with a visit from out of town Granny and Grandpa which the kiddos have continued to talk about all month. While they were here we went to Cadens fourth grade choir concert which was a really big deal for him (i.e. it was in the high school gym) and he was so glad that both sets of grandparents were able to be there. What a lucky guy! The luck continued for Jack when "in town " Grandad pulled out a cucumber that had actually grown from a pack of seeds that Jack got in a kids meal last summer. We had swung through drive through one day on our way to their house and Jack got these seeds. Well naturally he wanted to plant them right away ,and the first patch of dirt he saw was at Grandads. Of course Nanna and Grandad said he could plant them in their um.....sort of garden and so he did. Every single time we went over to their house in the ensuing months he would faithfully check his cucumber mound and it was just one disappointment after another. Maybe they were bad seeds, I offered. Maybe they aren't getting any water, Caden would say and month after month we went on that way. Alas the choir concert day arrived and it was all about Caden until Grandad reached into a brown paper bag and out came the cucumber, JACK'S cucumber! (you know that shiny sound of angelic choirs that sounds when someone has a really important moment happen that is something like tadahhhhhhhh!) Well according to his face that is what that little 6 year old heard. It was so sweet to see him swell with pride that he had actually created something and he showed off his harvest to anyone who would listen to his story. The next day, we went to the Evergreen Aviation Museum and spent the day experiencing the history of aviation. It was really neat and I wondered how in the world I have lived here for 12 years and never visited this place?? I wonder what other "jewels" of the Northwest I have yet to discover. The boys thought it was awesome and loved going inside the bowels of the Spruce Goose. After we had seen all there was to see Granny and Grandpa bought each of the boys a little model airplane. They originally bought the older boys airplanes made of some sort of metal with moving parts and A.J. a plush airplane. A.J. kept saying "No like it" to his airplane and reaching for Jacks more realistic one. So, back to the gift shop Granny went armed with her receipt that was second old and the plush toy. Moments later she emerged with a third metal airplane and A.J. grabbed it with a "that's what I'm talking about " smile on his face. Later that night Granny and Grandpa took the older boys to see High School Musical 3 which they had been dying to see. They came home singing the songs and happily unloaded their pockets of spare change, popcorn kernels, and half eaten sweet treats and went to bed. They were exhausted in the "I had the best day" kind of way.
