Today was my annual enlistment in the pink army!! I met my great friend from hygiene school to run in the Komen Race for the Cure in Portland. This is always such an inspirational and deeply personal pilgrimage for me. I am simultaneously sickened and awed by how many families and lives are affected by this disease. Reading the loving tributes that people wear on their backs as they run makes me SO aware that I could be one of those people. But instead I get to run in loving celebration of my mom, grandma, and friends who have all won their fights! I am so proud of all of you and realize every time I run in this event how courageous and strong you really are. I run for YOU!

I want to run this with you next year. I was thinking about it this weekend and wondering if you were going to do it. I think I would like it.
This brought tears to my eyes. We just did one this past weekend for my friend who has breast cancer and is fighting it now. You don't realize just how real it is until you have it hit home. Watching how strong your Mom was.. such an inspiration! You are always doing what you can to show your love!
